Aerobots, a map data service provider for the Guatemalan region quickly deployed their unmanned aircraft, which are fitted with Robota’s Goose autopilot, to capture the new terrain and topography created by the recent Fuego eruptions.  Aerobots’ aerial survey data was received with open arms by government officials, which had no other means of obtaining information about the disaster area.  The data was shared among multiple departments to aid in recovery, damage assessment and prevention.  The availability of map data without delay is extremely powerful and only available until recently, with the advent of affordable UAVs and control software.
